The 14 courses that make up the online Master of Cyber Security and Forensics degree at UniSC can be completed within 14 months to two years. You’ll study case studies and real-world data and gain insider knowledge as you learn more about topics that include digital and network forensics, programming, cyber laws, cryptocurrency, research and more.

In this online course you will be introduced to cybersecurity operations. You will develop the professional knowledge, qualities of thinking and digital collaboration skills needed to prepare you for future technical cyber security courses. You will explore the NIST Cybersecurity Framework and how cyber criminals target individuals and businesses, unlawfully seizing data and identities. You will also identify the dark markets where stolen data, identities and Intellectual Property are traded and how international law enforcement agencies operate to locate and prosecute cyber criminals.
How should digital investigators and cyber security specialists conduct themselves in their profession? How might moral philosophy inform ethical practice in this arena? What does ethical practice in this arena look like? In this online course you will examine ethical challenges for cyber security and digital investigations in the digital environment. You will examine different ethical frameworks that underpin critical decision-making in digital environment investigations and examine ethical issues relating to information management and obligations in respect of managing risks. You will learn to recognise conflict of interests, and how to manage them.

This online professional competency course introduces you to fundamental competencies and skills to effectively secure computer devices and networks. You will specifically develop and test your competency across device and network security vulnerabilities, behaviours and restrictions. You will also develop an understanding of ethical hacking and vulnerability/penetration testing. You will work online independently and in teams through problem based and case study activities and you will be able to diagnose and secure network devices.

A cyber security specialist will use a complex array of tools, methods and applications to investigate and protect information in computer systems. This online course has been designed to introduce you to some cryptography techniques that allow different parties to securely transmit information. The course will introduce blockchain and its growing uses, including cryptocurrencies. This course shows how simple computer programs allow us to read, clean, transform, and visualise real-world data in many different ways. It presents the key concepts and skills of programming, which are an essential foundation for all kinds of scripting and programming tasks in many different application areas, such as business, science, engineering, gaming and web development.

This course focuses on building the knowledge and practical skills necessary to manage projects in organisations. The course provides information how project management can drive efficiency and innovation in projects management across a range of situations. The framework used is this course is drawn from the Project Management Body of Knowledge and how the framework can be applied to projects. Through real world case studies, you are introduced to the principles, concepts and processes of project management and their traditional and agile application in both the business and public sectors.
This online course will introduce students to cyber security law, and explore how it interacts with other areas of law, including international cyber security law, criminal law, privacy law and the law of evidence. Students will also learn about the jurisdictional and enforcement issues involved in cyber security law. The course will be taught through a combination of online lectures, interactive training modules and reading. By working through the learning modules and completing your assessment tasks, you will become familiar with the legal processes involved in investigating cyber security incidents and will learn to identify and apply the legal principles that relate to cyber security investigations.
This online course will introduce digital forensic processes including seizure, acquisition, analysis, and reporting of digital evidence. You will learn how to identify and seize digital evidence and become familiar with the tools, techniques, and procedures employed by digital forensics examiners to acquire forensic images and protect and preserve electronically stored information. You will learn how to examine and analyse digital evidence. You will also learn how to reach logical conclusions about digital evidence and how to report and present digital evidence.

This online course teaches you how to monitor the network for traffic anomalies and identify attacks and instructions across points of interest within the network infrastructure environment. Through practical applications and real world investigations You will develop the skills required to monitor and analyse network traffic to assist in incident response and forensic investigation. This includes performing activities such as packet capture and protocol analysis as well as data collection, aggregation and intelligence analysis.

This online course will introduce advanced concepts in digital forensics. You will learn a variety of complex and manual digital forensic processes necessary for the understanding of complex digital evidence. You will learn the meaning of various forensic artefacts and how they can be used to support an investigation. You will learn how to overcome various roadblocks to analysis such as the manual recovery of files and accessing encrypted files. You will further hone your ability to report and present digital evidence in a professional manner.
You will apply and extend the skills and knowledge through a research project, industry-based project, or work placement/simulation related to your discipline. The course involves completion of activities under the supervision of an academic supervisor and industry supervisor (if applicable). Students will apply specialised knowledge and demonstrate skills thorough the delivery of a completed project. Depending on the project, work may be completed as part of a team. You will critically reflect on your experience to enhance your employability and prepare you for professional practice.
