When you complete the Graduate Certificate in Renewable Energy Engineering, you will not only be prepared to help Australia meet clean electricity targets, but you’ll have the tools and foundational knowledge to do so at a senior level.
You’ll choose from four high-impact courses from our Master of Renewable Energy Engineering curriculum to tailor your graduate certificate to your goals.
Courses include
Our curriculum has been designed to ensure you can take the theories and practices learnt in the program to immediately solve real-world problems.
This course provides knowledge and understanding of electrical power distribution with topics covering – distribution system planning and automation, load characterisation and modelling of distribution networks, application of distribution transformers, design of sub-transmission lines and distribution sub-station, and the distribution system and distributed generation. You will be introduced to the development of an optimal distribution system with respect to construction cost, capitalisation, performance reliability, and operating efficiency.
In this course you will develop an in-depth knowledge and understanding of micro- and smart-grid technologies along with their design and implementation strategies. Further you will be introduced to energy storage systems and develop a broad understanding and appreciation of the scientific principles that underpin the operation of such systems.
This course will provide you with in-depth knowledge and understanding of electrical demand forecasting and management. You will also apply demand flexibility and forecasting models.
This course will provide you with an introduction to principles of renewable energy. The course covers different types of renewable and alternative energy sources, and discusses their configuration, basic principles of operation, achievable efficiency, and cost. You will also be introduced to the impact of the new energy technologies on the environment, obstacles to their wide implementation in industrial and consumer applications, and the role of social attitudes and government planning, financial investments and incentives.
This course will prepare you as practising engineer to project manage the development of solutions in the workplace. You will be introduced to engineering project management theory, considering issues and challenges throughout a project life cycle. You will consider the project responsibilities of engineering managers and organisations, from the definition phase of a project to its conclusion.
